Orhall Islands

Northbeach is the first colony in the Orhall island chain that Valdar established. It lies in the centermost island, about 15 miles from the coast. It boasts a population of 209, not counting the 2d10 Swynbush plantations deeper in the island, anywhere from 24 to 60 miles away. Each of those has between 5 and 15 people working on them.

One of the strange properties of the Orhall islands is that while telportation to the islands is possible, teleportation away is extremely difficult. Some top-level Valdarian researchers believe that there is a mineral in the islands that causes it. The exact nature of this is still uncertain, as forays into country suitable for mining are heavily restricted by the native populace of the islands, due to tribal beliefs attached to locations.

Thankfully, though it is not something that crops or water have become tainted with- people who stay on the islands and leave are free to teleport around as much as they wish once they have cleared 100 miles from the island chain or so. Because of this phenomoenon, arcanists tend not to visit or stay on the island for long periods.
